Drilling permits are no longer required to drill water wells within Jackson County. However, any person drilling a water well within Jackson County must provide the district with written notice of intent to drill a well before the start of drilling activities.
CAUTION: while a permit is not required to authorize the drilling a new well, the District encourages anyone planning to drill a new water well to investigate the District's requirements related to groundwater production permits before initiating the drilling of a new well.
A guidance document, a blank Notice of Intent to Drill a Well (NIDW Form), and a blank Application to Register a Well (ARW Form) have been assembled in the following file:
New Well Packet - 20260331 - TGCD.pdfWater drillers are encouraged to retain a copy of any notice of intent to drill a well submitted to the District for their own records.
